What UKVI requires (and what it doesn't)

Frequently asked questions

Is this translation accepted by UKVI and the Home Office?
Yes. UKVI requires that any document not in English or Welsh is accompanied by a full translation with: confirmation from the translator that it is an accurate translation of the original, the date of the translation, and the translator’s full name, signature and contact details. Every order includes a signed certification with all of these on company letterhead, plus an order number that can be independently checked on our verification page. If UKVI ever rejects a translation we prepared, we revise it free of charge or refund you in full.
Do I need a sworn or notarised translation?
Not for UKVI. “Sworn translators” are a feature of civil-law countries (Spain, France, Germany) — the UK has no sworn translator register, and UKVI asks only for a certified translation as described above. Some courts and foreign authorities do want notarised translations; if that is your situation, contact us and we will point you to a suitable provider.
How fast will I get my translation?
Typical orders are delivered in under 10 minutes. Handwritten, damaged or low-resolution documents are routed to manual review and delivered within 24 hours — you will see this before you pay.
What does it cost?
£14.95 per page, flat — compared with £25–40 per page and a 1–3 day wait at traditional agencies. No subscriptions, no account. You pay with PayPal or card and download a finished PDF: translation, signed certification page, and a copy of your original.
Is my document safe?
Files are encrypted in transit, are never used to train AI models, and are automatically deleted from our servers 30 days after delivery. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
What if something in my document is unreadable?
Standard practice is to mark unreadable text as [Illegible] rather than guess. Our multi-step verification compares two independent AI readings plus your own confirmation of names and dates, so nothing is silently invented.
Does the translator need to be ATC or CIOL registered?
No. UKVI guidance does not require membership of the Association of Translation Companies or the Chartered Institute of Linguists — it requires the certification elements listed above. Professional registration is a trust signal, not a legal requirement.

How certification works. UKVI and the Home Office require that a translated document is accompanied by confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original, the date of the translation, and the translator’s full name, signature and contact details. Every order includes exactly that, on company letterhead, with an order number anyone can verify at certmytranslation.co.uk/verify. Notarisation is not required.
